asperSoft Corporation, the market leader in open source business intelligence, today announced the appointment of Brian Gentile as president and chief executive officer
San Francisco (December 05, 2007) –
JasperSoft Corporation, the market leader in open source business intelligence, today announced the appointment of Brian Gentile as president and chief executive officer. Gentile brings 22 years of executive management, marketing, developer and community programs leadership to JasperSoft. Most notably, he has held senior executive positions at leading business intelligence companies and successfully established and managed two of the world’s largest developer communities. Gentile will be responsible for guiding the company’s long-term business strategy and continued growth as a leader and innovator in business intelligence software.
“JasperSoft has emerged as the clear market leader in open source business intelligence,” said Gentile. “With more than 60,000 registered developers and more than 2.5 million core product downloads, the global JasperSoft community is experiencing explosive growth. Organizations understand that broadly-deployed business intelligence is required to improve business agility in today’s fast-paced environment, which provides JasperSoft with an important opportunity to lead the business intelligence market.”
Gentile has continuously demonstrated success in helping companies reach their financial and market leadership objectives. He has spent most of his career with leading market- and technology-driven organizations and has particular experience building world-class developer communities.
Among his accomplishments during eight years with Apple Computer, Gentile grew the evangelism team from 30 to 100 employees, greatly improving Apple’s ability to support and partner with the 10,000 independent software companies in its developer community. At Sun Microsystems, Gentile served as the company’s first Vice President of Developer Relations, where he helped create the Sun and Java Developer Connection programs. Together, these became the fastest-growing and largest developer communities in the industry with more than 2 million members during his tenure. He also built Sun’s first strategic evangelism team, creating methods to directly engage thousands of developers with highly influential technical guidance.
Gentile most recently comes from Informatica Corporation, where he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, and led all aspects of the company’s global marketing efforts. Previously, he also served as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Brio Software, helping to profitably rebuild the company and then assist in its acquisition by Hyperion Solutions.
Gentile will be replacing Paul Doscher as CEO, who helped recruit Gentile first to the company’s board of directors and now to a direct operational role as President and CEO. Doscher will remain on JasperSoft’s board of directors to both help implement a smooth executive transition and to provide operational advice and insight.
“Brian’s deep experience building successful developer-centric organizations is a perfect fit for JasperSoft,” said Rory O’Driscoll, managing director for Scale Venture Partners and a member of the JasperSoft board of directors. “His experience building two of the world’s largest and most successful developer communities, knowledge of the business intelligence market, and executive experience at two leading business intelligence software companies make him the ideal person to drive the next phase of JasperSoft’s growth. The board is confident in Brian’s ability to meet corporate objectives and extend JasperSoft’s leadership in the open source and business intelligence markets.”
