Jaspersoft Named an Innovation Information Access Company to Watch by Leading Research Firm Jaspersoft is among list of nine companies chosen by research executives
SAN FRANCISCO (October 27, 2009) –
Jaspersoft, provider of the world’s most widely used business intelligence (BI) software, today announced that it has been chosen by leading research firm IDC as an “Innovative Information Access Company Under $100M to Watch[1].” Jaspersoft is the only open source software company to make the report.
Nine companies were chosen by IDC analysts for harnessing information in the enterprise with applications that assess, manage and analyze data. IDC assessed hundreds of companies in the BI, search and content relationship management (CRM) space with a two-phased process for determining its Innovation Awards contest winners. The first round consisted of a panel of IDC analysts who specialize in access technology. The second round evaluations narrowed the entries with assessments by key IDC research executives.
IDC’s “Companies to Watch” reports are a qualitative evaluation of a set of vendors within a specific market – they are not a stack ranking nor do they represent an exhaustive evaluation of all companies in a segment or a comparative ranking of the companies in the report.
“IDC is one of the world’s most respected research firms, so we applaud our customers, the vibrant community that distinguishes Jaspersoft, and the global Jaspersoft team for working together on a level that has garnered this praise,” said Brian Gentile, CEO of Jaspersoft. “We are experiencing first-hand the trends that the IDC report points to, especially the advanced expectations from a new generation of executives and managers who demand more from their information access tools. We’re committed to delivering on those expectations.”
IDC’s “Companies-to-Watch” were identified by their ability to address the latest customer requirements in the following categories: innovations in the user interface that require little training and incorporate Web 2.0 and social networking concepts; unified access and management of all types of information; and intelligent process automation that mechanize repeatable, operational decision-making.
“Innovation for broader, more comprehensive and more pervasive access to information is occurring at a rapid pace,” said Dan Vesset, program vice president, Business Analytics at IDC and co-author of this week’s report. “Newly minted executives, managers and operational staff who have been exposed to better, more integrated information access, analysis and management tools will expect to use them to increase the performance and competitiveness of their organizations.”
Jaspersoft was also chosen for its open source software technology and community development model, which IDC reports is helping to accelerate BI deployments among small, medium and large companies. IDC also cites that Jaspersoft’s development model creates a “community effect” that enables extended design and testing.
