JasperSoft Corporation, the market leader in open source business intelligence (BI), today announced the general availability of JasperSoft Business Intelligence Suite version 2.1, a significant upgrade that makes the benefits of BI more accessible to more users than ever before. Version 2.1 is specifically focused on enhancing usability and end-user functionality, delivering on JasperSoft’s commitment to extend the value of business intelligence across the organization.
JasperSoft’s BI Suite 2.1 incorporates an innovative set of features designed to reduce the gap between data and discovery, including advanced AJAX-based ad hoc charting and cross-tab analysis; Dashboarding capabilities that can be deployed via portals; data access security for data warehouses and a significantly enhanced out-of-the-box experience which helps guide new users to faster productivity.
“The most powerful business intelligence is the kind that doesn’t rely on IT support and time-intensive training programs. We are simplifying the entire process with ease of use, and affordability while focusing on the features that truly impact user experience,” said Paul Doscher, CEO of JasperSoft. “version 2.1 of the JasperSoft Business Intelligence Suite incorporates state-of-the-art functionality that enhances user productivity at the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) in the BI market.”
In addition to significant improvements to the user experience, JBIS programmability has been enhanced for extended embeddability for OEMs and Operational BI solutions. Key new features in Version 2.1 of the JasperSoft Business Intelligence Suite include:
* In the web browser based ad hoc report designer, users can now create reports containing custom formulas, charts and crosstabs with drag-and-drop (AJAX) , as well as reports combining charts and other report types;
* For programmers and ISV/OEMs, there is a fully supported complete public Java API; a new “ad hoc launcher” API to drive ad hoc query and analysis functionality from another application; new web services for scheduling; and a simplified methodology for custom data source implementation;
* Dashboarding via JSR-168 Portlets allowing users to build dashboards in portals such as Liferay, which is now bundled with JBIS;
* Data access security for data warehouses, which allows a user’s profile to dictate what data the user can see in the warehouse;
* Expanded data integration capabilities in JasperETL including a new multi-user repository, new monitoring tools, and support for slowly-changing dimensions in data warehouses;
