VANCOUVER, B.C. (December 01, 2009) –
Indicee has launched out of Vancouver, B.C.
as a cloud-based reporting application designed to provide businesses with a faster way to mash data and create reports. Indicee provides an on-demand solution for users with no IT expertise who are frustrated with cutting and pasting data into spreadsheets.
“Indicee’s vision is to bring reporting and analysis to the “masses”. As a part of the team that launched Crystal Reports in 1991, I have witnessed businesses struggle with a lack of access to data locked in BI or software tools and systems. Most often they turn to programs like Excel and cut, paste and formulate data from multiple sources to get the reports that they need. The process is painful and time consuming,” comments Mark Cunningham, Co-Founder, President & CEO of Indicee.
“Indicee effectively eliminates the need for manual spreadsheet data manipulation, and our unique approach allows companies to build on existing reports, eliminating 90% of the cost and complexity of traditional business intelligence. For small to medium sized companies, the solution is ideal.”
As an online application, Indicee functions to allow businesses to quickly consolidate data from different systems, reports and spreadsheets, enabling them to efficiently analyze and share information.
There are three key aspects that make Indicee unique:
1. How Indicee accesses data. The near-ubiquity of reporting infrastructure, such as Crystal Reports, provides an untapped source of data that, with Indicee, can be accessed by end users, combined with other data (Excel, CSV, SaaS sources etc.) and uploaded to the cloud without the need to directly access information locked up in corporate databases.
2. How Indicee enables users to query data. Indicee features a dead-simple interface that allows users to ask business questions in plain English. Reports and visualizations are produced from uploaded data within minutes, eliminating hours of tedious cutting and pasting data from “canned” reports into spreadsheets.
3. How Indicee engages people. Indicee users can connect with each other and share data securely with colleagues or associates in an online community/social exchange, enabling collaborative decision-making, transparency and alignment.
The Indicee founding team includes Mark Cunningham, previously Founder/CEO of Symmetrics and part of the founding team of Crystal Decisions, acquired by Seagate in 1996, as well as Fred Tummonds, former Vice President of Business Objects, responsible for Enterprise Reporting.
Since inception, Indicee has raised more than $8 million in funding, $6 million of which was recently raised in initial VC financing with investors Yaletown Venture Partners of Vancouver and Granite Ventures of San Francisco.
Earlier versions of Indicee software have attracted both large and mid-sized businesses and partners including Alco Ventures, Sage Software, Terra Breads and others.
