To keep pace with subscriber growth, France’s largest pay-TV company upgrades to latest Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse
PARIS (October 25, 2011) – Building on the success of its current Teradata analytics program that delivers personalized TV program recommendations to subscribers, CANAL+ Group has migrated to the new Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse 6650 from Teradata Corporation (NYSE: TDC), the world’s leading analytic data solutions company. The upgrade has provided additional processing capacity to help CANAL+ Group, France’s largest pay-TV company, keep pace with ongoing business growth. Since 2005, CANAL+ Group has relied on Teradata to handle its significant volume ‘hot’ operational and customer usage data that is accessed daily.

Supported by Teradata Professional Services, CANAL+ Group completed migration earlier this year, with no disruption to day-to-day operations. In addition, IT teams have significantly improved operational data processing, with production schedules shortened by almost six hours. Soon the platform will also consolidate key indicators from the Group’s subsidiaries around the world.
The new platform has enabled the film and television studio and distributor to centralize and converge data from its departments and subsidiaries. Some 3 million queries per day from about 1,000 data feeds are now processed more efficiently and quickly. Further, the platform allows CANAL+ Group to perform a wide range of data mining activities, including customer segmentation and scoring, and conduct more than 1,000 marketing campaigns annually that involve 350 million contacts. High-level scalability means that the platform can support the CANAL+ Group’s growth long into the future.
