JasperSoft also launches innovative, community-based translation project on JasperForge.Org, with 22 languages under development
PARIS and SAN FRANCISCO (January 30, 2007) –
JasperSoft Corporation, the market leader in open source business intelligence, in response to overwhelming global demand, today announced the globalization of the entire JasperSoft Business Intelligence Suite. JasperSoft is now fully internationalized, enabling delivery of localized and translated versions of its popular business intelligence solutions to any country in the world. JasperSoft also supports fully localized reports, including locale-sensitive formatting of data, string translation, time-zone conversion, and sorting, so that a single report definition can meet the language and locale needs of geographically and linguistically diverse global users. With full support for Unicode encodings as well as traditional region-specific encoding systems such as Japanese Shift-JIS, JasperSoft can handle information for all of the world’s languages.
“JasperSoft support for globalization is consistent with our roots in the worldwide, open source development community and our strategy to provide open, standards-based BI computing solutions for organizations of any size,” said Paul Doscher, CEO of JasperSoft. “As the leading provider of open source Business Intelligence (BI) solutions, JasperSoft is committed to promoting industry-wide standards that will ultimately benefit end-users around the world.”
The Unicode Standard is a character coding system designed to support the worldwide interchange, processing, and display of the written texts of the diverse languages and technical disciplines of the modern world. In addition, it supports classical and historical texts of many written languages. The Unicode standard has been adopted by computing leaders such as Apple, BEA, HP, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, and Sun, among others. It is required by modern standards such as XML, Java, ECMAScript (JavaScript), LDAP, CORBA 3.0, and WML and is the official way to implement ISO/IEC 10646.
In support of globalization capabilities, JasperSoft is also announcing the launch of JasperBabylon, a JasperForge.org project where developers can collaborate on localization projects. Already, 22 language translations have been initiated as part of the JasperBabylon project, with more on the way.
With more than two million product downloads from over 200 countries around the world, over 20,000 deployments, and 23 global partners, JasperSoft leads the market for open source business intelligence, bringing enterprise-quality open source business intelligence tools to organizations of all sizes and budgets. The global appeal of the JasperSoft Business Intelligence Suite is underscored by its download demographics, which are almost equally distributed between North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the rest of the world. A lightweight Java architecture and public integration interfaces allows JasperSoft BI solutions to be easily integrated into existing applications. Today, JasperSoft has more than 5,000 customers in 81 countries, from small businesses to Global 2000 enterprises, including Harland Financial, L3 Communications, Siemens, TIMCO, Tomax, University of Nebraska, Visage Mobile, and Walgreens.com. JasperSoft maintains a global presence with sales, support, and development offices in California, New York, North Carolina, Ireland, Italy, Romania, India, and Australia.
With globalization support, the JasperSoft Business Intelligence Suite solutions can now be localized and translated for use in any market and language, including Chinese, Cyrillic, Hindi, Japanese, and more. JasperSoft is making available to developers, partners, and customers guidelines on how to localize JasperSoft products for any market. Jaspersoft will also release downloadable localization packs that can be easily installed with any existing JasperSoft product deployment.
In its implementation of globalization support, JasperSoft made it easy for administrators to deploy localized Business Intelligence. When a user completes a JasperServer or JasperAnalysis login, the JasperSoft application recognizes the user’s preferred locale and time zone. This can be set in various ways, including detecting a user’s login locale from a Web browser, selecting from a list on the login page, or though API calls when JasperSoft solutions are embedded in other applications.
The first localized products from JasperSoft will be available in Japanese in February 2007. Other localized products will be available shortly thereafter.
