Consortium of companies will meet increasing demand for open source software in the mid-market
SAN FRANCISCO (April 14, 2009) –
Jaspersoft, provider of the world’s most widely used business intelligence (BI) software, today announced it is one of the founding members of the Open Source Channel Alliance. The alliance, a consortium of open source Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) led by Red Hat and SYNNEX Corporation (NYSE: SNX), will offer resellers a single source for delivering a variety of open source applications.
SYNNEX is a leading business process services company, servicing resellers and original equipment manufacturers in multiple regions around the world. SYNNEX has entered into a set of distribution agreements with the founding Open Source Channel Alliance members to distribute a variety of open source ISV applications in addition to Red Hat Enterprise Linux and JBoss Enterprise Middleware. As a leading distributor of a select group of open source software providers, SYNNEX can offer its resellers end-to-end solutions utilizing the advantages of an open source platform. “Our channel partners and their customers will benefit tremendously from the Open Source Channel Alliance because, together with the founding members, we can offer multiple end-to-end solutions in open source,” said Bob Stegner, Senior Vice President, Marketing, North America at SYNNEX Corporation. “The Jaspersoft BI software product offering empowers value added resellers, system integrators and end customers with the freedom of choice without the fear of vendor lock-in.” “Making effective and smart decisions is more important than ever in today’s tight economy. Using open source business intelligence software like Jaspersoft makes that possible,” said Roger Egan, vice president, channel sales, NA Red Hat. “Jaspersoft’s participation in the Open Source Channel Alliance will bring those capabilities to a wider market that can take advantage of open source.” “SYNNEX’ move to establish the Open Source Channel Alliance signals a new level of validation for commercial open source software adoption,” said Jose Morales, vice president of business development at Jaspersoft. “We applaud our long-time partner and investor Red Hat for bringing this trusted group of ISVs together with SYNNEX to meet the growing demand for open source in North America.” Currently the Open Source Channel Alliance is available in the North American markets and will be open to additional open source ISVs in the future. Open source applications offered by the alliance will be available to SYNNEX’ more than 15,000 resellers.
