Logi Mobile Lets Companies Deliver Business Critical Information to Their Mobile Workforce

LOS ANGELES (May 02, 2011) – LogiXML, the pioneer of web-based business intelligence (BI) software, today announced the release of Logi Mobile, a major new enhancement to Logi Info

“Most BI companies have built proprietary, device-specific mobile BI products and this is certainly one approach,” said Brett Jackson, CEO, LogiXML. “However, we believe that the mobile device market will become more heterogeneous and that our customers prefer a different approach. We are giving them the ability to continue to develop their BI applications within Logi Info, which is familiar to them, and extend their applications to any mobile device without the headache of deploying, managing and supporting specialized, device-specific products.”

By leveraging HTML 5, Logi Mobile allows IT to support a wide-variety of devices with less cost and complexity, while also delivering compelling mobile features

According to Gartner*, “by 2013, 33 percent of BI functionality will be consumed via handheld devices.” As the mobile workforce grows and the mobile device landscape continues to evolve, it is increasingly critical for organizations to be agile with their mobile BI applications.

“It’s important to keep in mind that Logi Mobile allows any organization to take an application that they have already invested time and resources in developing, and within minutes convert it into a mobile-ready offering,” said David Abramson, director of product management, LogiXML. “Being able to easily and securely deliver BI to end users regardless of where they are and what type of mobile device they use gives companies distinct competitive advantages.”

Boston College (BC) Libraries has already deployed two mobile applications powered by LogiXML Info.

“Our students use a wide variety of mobile devices, so having a device-neutral BI deployment is essential,” said Bob Gerrity, associate university librarian for library systems and information, BC. “Getting the application onto your mobile device quickly without having to use an app store is also a tremendous value and convenience to IT and our students.”

The first mobile application BC developed using LogiXML technology allows students to use their mobile devices to access confidential library account information, browse library catalogues, and place holds on library resources. The second BC mobile application allows librarians armed with iPads to create lists of library resources to be re-shelved or removed by volunteers.
